Dr Janani Nagendra

Dr Nagendra is a General Adult and Aged Care Psychiatrist. She prides herself on a collaborative and holistic approach to patient care, empathic communication and attention to detail.

Dr Nagendra is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists with additional subspecialty qualification from the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age. She holds a Master of Psychiatry from the NSW Institute of Psychiatry and completed her undergraduate medical degrees at the University of NSW in 2006.

 

In addition to private practice, Dr Nagendra works as a staff specialist at Concord Repatriation General Hospital. In her public sector work, she leads a geriatric psychiatry consultation liaison service, and has additional responsibilities for community outreach and a telehealth service to rural NSW.

Dr Nagendra’s research has been published internationally and she has been an invited speaker to both local and international conferences. She is involved in teaching and supervision of psychiatry registrars and junior doctors in the public sector, as well as the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists interview program for new psychiatry trainees. She also serves on a statewide mental health governance committee.

Dr Nagendra has a particular interest in major mood and anxiety disorders in adulthood and an expertise in the care of older adults with neuropsychiatric disorders, including the diagnosis and management of dementia.
