Fees for Services

Fees

All appointments are charged according to time.

Fees are to be fully paid at the time of consultation.

Generally the practitioner’s fees are above the Medicare rebate so there is a gap to pay. The practitioner’s fees may change according to Government indexation and new Medicare Item Numbers. Please contact our receptionist staff and ask for fee details when you are making your appointment.

NOTE: For psychiatrists: fees are set at standard Australian Medical Association (AMA) rates for non Medicare items requested by a third party such as Workers Compensation, Medico-Legal and Employment related consultations and assessments.

The practitioners working at Wellview share the running costs of the practice. It is not possible to cover our overheads without there being a Gap Fee.

Your consultations cost also covers the cost of additional time spent by your health care practitioner in your absence, taking care of you. This includes writing and correcting letters and reports to your GP and the other health care professionals involved in your care.

In certain circumstances there may be additional fees for time spent by your health care practitioner, on your care, outside of the consultation. (eg. writing requested medico-legal reports). We will obtain your approval before such work is undertaken.

Once you have reached the Medicare safety net threshold, Medicare will reimburse a significant proportion of your fees.

We can advise you on Medicare Safety Net Details and how to check your balance. Check www.humanservices.gov.au, click on “Your Health” tab, then click on “Medicare Services” then click on “Register for the Medicare Safety net” for more information.

We understand that seeing a doctor and having tests may lead to significant medical costs. The Medicare Safety Net is designed to help you with some of these costs. Please make sure that you and your family are registered with Medicare Australia Safety Net program. Services received as an out-patient count towards the Medicare safety net.
